Shivelight: A word created by poet Gerard Manley Hopkins for the lances of sunshine that pierce the canopy of a wood
Sun’s warmth on my skin - the first of the year. New green and tender leaves, unfurl and flap on a gentle breeze. Light flickers on my face through the canopy and fence line. Trees sway and play with the bed sheets drying on the washing line; conducting me as I absorb the scene. Every Spring feels like the first - an energy revival - the darker months forgotten, only the lighter ones to come.
